Five teams that could draft Jake Fromm

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

After an accomplished career at University of Georgia, former Houston County High School quarterback, Jake Fromm, will be drafted to the NFL this year.

The only question is, where?

This draft is strong at the quarterback position. Prospects like Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts are sure to go ahead of Fromm. From the looks of it he’ll land in the second, third, and possibly the fourth round; anything lower is a steal.

Fromm should be the fifth quarterback taken; selected ahead of Jordan Love from Utah and Jacob Eason from Washington, who lost his starting spot to Fromm at UGA.

In his three seasons at UGA, Fromm completed 622 of 983 passes for 8,236 yards, 78 touchdowns and just 18 interceptions.

His arm isn’t the strongest, his numbers aren’t the highest, but Jake Fromm was one of the most consistent quarterbacks in college during his career. Since he took over as a true freshman, he also proved to be a leader and a winner; not all quarterbacks can say the same.

After some deliberation, here are five teams that could draft Jake Fromm:

New England Patriots

The departure of Tom Brady shook the sports world, suddenly making New England one of the least threatening teams in the NFL. Their recent signing of Brian Hoyer shows that they need options, and it also gives a good veteran to aid Fromm if drafted. The Patriots have three picks in the third round (87,98, and 100) so it’s almost a no brainer they draft Fromm if he’s still on the board.

Given New England’s pedigree, they still want to win, and Fromm comes from a winning culture at UGA. He’ll also be reunited with former Bulldogs running back Sony Michel and offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn. Fromm could be a good fit in Bill Belichick’s system and potentially be the starter since there basically isn’t one.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Now that Tom Brady will grace Tampa Bay with his presence behind center, they need a backup. Brady is on his way to retirement and it’d be wise to groom a young quarterback while he’s there.

Tampa has a second (45), third (76), and two fourth round picks (117 and 139) in the draft. The Bucs are in a win now state of mind with Brady, but picking Fromm could prepare them for the life after Brady.

Chicago Bears

It’s no secret at all, the Bears need a new quarterback. With Cam Newton available in free agency, he’s a possible option, but Chicago could go another route to save some money and light a fire under their current starter, Mitchell Trubisky, by drafting Fromm and igniting a quarterback battle between them and Nick Foles.

The Bears have two second round picks (43 and 50) and one fourth round pick (140). It’d be wise to start finding a franchise replacement for Trubisky, who had a tormenting 2019 campaign. Fromm would join a team desperate for change and could be what they’re looking for. His poise as a leader and efficiency is something that can help turn the Bears back into a playoff contender. After recently signing Foles, their best bet would be to still draft Fromm and cut ties with Trubisky.

Las Vegas Raiders

There’s a feeling Derek Carr may be on his way out of Las Vegas sooner than some expect. The Raiders showed interest in Brady while he was available, indicating they’re not hesitant to move on from Carr if the right player is there.

Now that Brady is signed, the Raiders have a chance to draft Fromm with one of their three third round picks (80, 81, 91). They could draft Fromm and let him backup Carr for a season or two, or they can deal Carr in a trade and give Fromm the reigns to the offense.

As much as Raiders Head Coach Jon Gruden loves quarterbacks, he should appreciate the talents Fromm has to offer.

Philadelphia Eagles

With no reliable backup behind Carson Wentz, it wouldn’t hurt the Eagles to invest in one and win another Super Bowl with him (kidding about the Super Bowl). The Eagles hold three picks in the fourth round (127,145, and 146). If he’s available, the Eagles would do themselves a favor by picking Fromm to give them a backup with upside.

Philly could also see Fromm as an option for replacing
