First Baptist brings Christmas cheer to Lindsey Elementary School

Christmas came a little early for the students at Lindsey Elementary School. Thursday afternoon, Joshua Wilson, associate minister at First Baptist Church on Garmon St. in Warner Robins brought a gift for each student.

“God gave me a vision last year to be a blessing to the community and the kids,” Wilson said. “I wanted to give back, make an impact and a positive difference. So last year around Thanksgiving, I went before my church told them what I wanted to do and we were able to provide gifts to 100 students last year. This year, my church and our amazing community donated over 300 gifts. So each child, Pre-K through 5th grade will have a gift.”

Dr. Anisa Baker-Busby, principal of Lindsey Elementary, said they are grateful to Wilson and First Baptist Church.

“We have a wonderful partnership with First Baptist Church,” Baker-Busby said. “They not only give in this capacity, but they also visit our schools to read to the children and help mentor. This is amazing that each student will receive a gift today. And this is another way to support our parents because it’s one less gift they have to purchase.”

Baker-Busby said they have about 280 students total.

“I am just so mind blown and grateful to my church and community,” Wilson said. “It moves me deeply to tears. I just truly want to show these students that they are loved and cared for.”
