FAST FORWARD medical facility open at Robins
A one-of-a-kind facility has opened at Robins Air Force Base right next to the flight line.
The Medical FAST FORWARD facility will be able to provide services exclusively for the WR-ALC employees through the Occupational Medicine Services by the 78th Medical Group.
“This is all about our people,” stated Brig. Gen. Cedric George at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility Tuesday. “We must take care of our employees with immediate action should they need it.”
Dr. Michael Rappa, the Chief of Occupational Medicine for the 78th, said the facility will “provide access within minutes here,” in regards to the location of the medical facility and the flight line.
Rappa said it would not only focus on injuries that had just happened, but also rehabilitation. He gave the example of an employee who does a repetitive motion using his shoulder while at work. If that employee was to notice pain in the shoulder, then he could go to the facility to have it examined.
After the example was given, George added, “We want to prevent you from getting injured.”
FAST FORWARD stands for First Aid station, Treatment, and Forward Operating Rehabilitation of Workers Accentuating Restorative Dynamics.
Six staff members work at the facility, which cost around $175,000 to construct.
