On Wednesday, March 3, at approximately 9:49 a.m., a two car accident occurred at the intersection of GA Highway 26 and Elko Road. According to the report provided by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the 1997 Ford F350 driven by Nathaniel Wicker crossed the intersection traveling east on Highway 26. Meanwhile, the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by William Tharpe failed to stop at the intersection, travelling north on Elko road.

Due to Tharpe’s failure to stop, Wicker collided into the side of his vehicle. The force of the collision forced Tharpe off of the road, and caused Wicker’s vehicle to roll after driving off the road as well. After the accident, Adriana Tharpe, the passenger of William Tharpe, reported only one injury

According to Corporal Sanders of the HCSO, the injury reported on scene was “not a serious injury”. Traffic was held for approximately two hours as the accident was rectified.
