“We’ll be having free food and drinks including hot dogs, chips, cookies and soda. We will also have games for the kids to play such as hitting piñatas and there will also be face painting as well,” she said.

The egg hunt will also feature a drawing for kids to win free bicycles. Simmons said the community has donated the proceeds to get these bicycles.

Members of Eastern Star are known for their community service around the City of Perry

“We ring the bell for the Salvation Army every year outside of Walmart and help Perry Volunteer Outreach by giving out groceries and also toys for the kids,” she said “We will help whatever the City [of Perry] asks us to do.”

Simmons said their chapter has been in Perry for 40 years as they celebrated their anniversary in February. They have held this egg hunt for more than 30 years.

Kids participating in this community egg hunt will be divided into age groups three and under, four to eight, and nine to thirteen. Simmons said each age group will have their own area to egg hunt. Simmons said the Perry Fire Department will be tasked with hiding the eggs.

“We would love to have anybody come and join us as we’d be glad to have them, and if anyone would like to participate, we’d be glad to have them too,” she said.
