DUI driver arrested traveling 31 miles over speed limit
A Warner Robins woman was arrested after being caught driving with alcohol levels over the legal limit, driving with a suspended license and driving at a speed that was more than 30 miles over the roadway limit.
On Saturday, February 5, an on-duty Houston County Sheriff’s Office deputy was conducting stationary speed enforcement on Russell Parkway when he spotted a vehicle traveling at what he described as “what appeared to be a high rate of speed.” Mallory Hope Robinson, age 27, was clocked at driving her red 2007 Toyota Corolla at a speed of 66 miles an hour in an area where the legal maximum is 35 MPH.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, and when he made contact with Robinson, he described her as “slow to react” and said that she “spoke with a loud voice and slurred her speech.”
As he attempted to explain to Robinson the reason that she was stopped, the deputy said she interrupted him. It was a behavior that prompted him to ask her if she had consumed any alcoholic beverages.
“Mallory stated she had been drinking, and she only had two beers,” the deputy shared. He further stated that while interviewing Robinson, “she later advised me that she also had two shots of an alcoholic beverage.”
While the verbal exchange was going on, the deputy revealed that he detected the odor of alcohol. When he requested to see her driver’s license, Robinson told him that she did not have it on her. She later admitted to only having a driving permit.
“I checked Mallory’s license status through NCIC via Dispatch,” the deputy reported. “Dispatch advised Mallory’s license was suspended in reference to Failure to Appear.”
At that time, Robinson was asked to step from the car where she agreed to submit to the Standard Field Sobriety Tests (SFST), which included the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, the Walk and Turn and the One Leg Stand. Her poor performance led the deputy to believe she was over the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle. The results of a breath test confirmed his suspicions.
As a result, Robinson was arrested and issued citations for the following charges: DUI-Alcohol, License Not On Person, Speeding, and Driving While License Suspended/Revoked. She was transported to Houston County Detention Center for processing.
