Driver charged after accident resulting in a fatality
Houston County Sheriff’s Office says a woman died Sunday night after a loose tire struck her while she was walking her dog.
Lieutenant Kent Bankston said they received the call about around 10 p.m. at a trailer park near the Bibb and Houston County line HCSO was dispatched to 7536 Houston Rd. When deputies arrived, they identified the woman as 22-year-old Kimberly Touchton.
It was reported that she left to walk her dog around 9 p.m. that night and about an hour later, her fiancé saw the dog return. Touchton was found unresponsive 30 yards from the trailer park, according to Bankston.
Through investigation, Bankston said deputies located a pickup truck about a quarter of a mile down the road closer to the Bibb County line, with its front right tire missing. Investigators determined that the tire came off while the driver was traveling and hit Touchton in the back of the head.
Bankston said they ran the plates on the truck and were able to locate the driver, 27-year-old Brian Seth Carmichael. Carmichael was charged around 5 p.m. Monday with failure to report an accident causing injury or death. Carmichael’s bond was set at $2,600.
