Do not let evil triumph in your life
Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.” Millions of lives have ended before they should have because of the many evil things being done in our nation and in our world.
Around thirty eight million people lost their lives during World War One because of evil people. Between fifty and eighty million were killed during World War Two.
From the early 1930’s until the mid-1940’s six million people lost their lives because of the evil of one man and his followers. Even today millions of people worldwide die due to human trafficking and other bad things.
Possibly millions of these people could have lived if good people had chosen to do something about the problem rather than to do nothing.
Today in many churches pastors might ask their members to rate their faith from one to ten with ten being those who have unwavering faith. Many of us could feel that our faith number is to low and that we need to do more Christian work in order to increase it. When we look around our nation and world and see what is happening we all know that we should do all that we can to make life better for those we know.
Many of you have watched a loved one pass away after a long battle with an illness. You see someone who works hard all of their life but never earns enough to be able to enjoy the simple things in life that many of us take for granted.
We have seen many of our police officers and firemen lose their lives when they do the job they have to do when called to a bad situation or to a home that is on fire. You see many people killed because of a deranged person or two. You see people who could do more to help the poor and helpless but do not seem to care.
Many of us probably wonder why God does not do more to intervene and humble some of these folks to help people gain faith in the goodness of people or even faith in their life for the first time.
None of us probably do not understand why tragedies and injustices are allowed to continue around us and around the world. We all know that God created us and we all believe that there will be a hereafter in Heaven one day.
We all should believe that there is a Savior who has gone and prepared a place for us that will be better and much greater than life on this earth despite what happens around us day after day.
Also, remember that if you can do one thing today that will make the life of someone else better please do it. Better yet do one thing every day that you can to make life better for someone else and do not let evil triumph in your life.
