Do not be a church dropout

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A good number of people have said “good-bye” to the church. Many of them still say that they love God and believe in Jesus but they are just through with going to church. If some of you are doing this may I encourage you to rethink your decision.

God never intended for us to live out our lives as Christians on our own or disconnect ourselves from other believers. In fact he makes our Christian walk work in such a way that we need other Christians to encourage us, to support us and to pray for us. This works if we are connected to the church.

We all should seek independence because we need independence and we long for independence. Sometimes we want to do this ourselves and feel that we do not need help from anyone. Sometimes we do not want help from God until a situation arises that is bigger than we can handle. However, God is always there to help us have our independence.

God has made us to rely on others, to be helped by others and for us to help others. The church is the group that we can connect with that can make that happen. They will be there for us when we need them and we can be there for them when they need us. However, that will not happen if we are not connected to a body of believers who love Jesus Christ.

We all know people who say that they love God but have stopped coming to church. Most of them do not attempt to share Christ with others in an effort to be sure that they know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. We Christians who try to spread the word about Jesus can say that we are “evangelizing” as best as we can.

When we share our love of Christ with someone and that person comes to personally experience the love and grace of Jesus Christ in a saving way they might ask “What do I do next?” The answer would have to be, go to a church, go down at the end of the service when the pastor ask anyone who would like to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour to come forward. After accepting Jesus they would be baptized as their final step of obedience.

After doing these things they will continue to grow in knowledge of what is expected of a Christian who will be able to encourage others in their daily walk with God. But remember that there are those who do not come to church anymore who do not care about seeing other people who become Christians.

If you are one who has walked away from your church but say that you still love Jesus, how can you live out the Great Commission in Matthew 28 verses 19-20 and not attend a local church.

If you will become involved again in a local church you will see who is baptizing the new followers of Jesus, who is teaching them to walk with God and you will see how many are embracing Jesus as their Lord.

If you have dropped out of church how about giving it another try. By doing this you will be pleasing your relatives and friends, and most of all God will be pleased.
