Do Blurred Lines Exist

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Threading a needle has become a lot more difficult. Just like some clothing items, it appears that the eye of the needle has kept getting smaller. The struggle to complete this task is affected by vision and steadiness of hand. It is even more frustrating when someone else comes along and does it with ease using the same thread and needle you struggled with. When things do not look just the way we want, or go just the way we want, we tend to make changes so that there is a blurring of the lines that define what we have and do. The reality is that blurred lines do not exist, just impaired vision.

While looking at the horizon over the ocean, it is nearly impossible to tell where the blue sea ends and the blue sky begins. One thing that is certain is that there is a place where it happens. Watching the sun rise over the Atlantic Ocean gives us a major clue on how to overcome the blurred line between sea and sky as well as the blurred lines of society. You see the sea and the sky both contain a tremendous amount of water, so what makes one different than the other. When the light of the sun begins to shine and change the skyline, it reveals to us a transferrable truth.

When we shine a light in a dark room, we discover all of the obstacles and hazards that were hidden to us before. When we shine a light on a situation, it reveals truths that had been hidden from us. We need to shine a light on more of our local situations in order to maximize that the standards we proclaim are the ones that we live.

Recently, a video became public about an extremely offensive event that took place amongst local high school baseball players that has not had a great deal of transparency by the school board. This event took place in May of 2023, so why would it take this long for punishment to be handed out. A supervised trip that included the coach and staff should be treated with the same standard regardless of the school or team. They are responsible for whatever happens when supervising our children.

Those students understanding of actions and consequences will affect their ability to discern right and wrong. The line that defines right and wrong should not be blurry because our vision is impaired by our lack of objectivity. There should be more light brought to this situation, so that the darkness of delayed consequences does not give birth to worse behaviors and a distorted view of who should get what consequence.

The truth, just like blurred lines, can be magnified and amplified. We would do well to shine more light on our situations so that the line between right and wrong is not blurry but made abundantly clear for all.
