Demons tease Canes in 24-17 win: Warner Robins advances to Quarterfinals
Marquis Westbrook and the Warner Robins Demons are 11-1 overall and they also sport a 3-1 record in region 1-AAAAA. The Demons are looking to repeat as state champs for the second consecutive year. The Demons head into the third round of the GHSA State AAAAA Playoffs as the second seed, coming from their respected region. The number one seed in region 1-AAAAA is the Ware County Gators. The Demons suffered their only regular season loss to the Gators, earlier this season. The Warner Robins Demons held the undefeated Hurricanes to only two touchdowns and 167 yards rushing. Amari White, Carterville Hurricane scat-back, had 19 carries for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Jake Parker is the successor of Trevor Lawrence. Parker threw 12 passes and completed six of those passes for 149 yards.
The Warner Robins Demons held the Cartersville Hurricanes scoreless in the first quarter, before going into halftime tied at 7 points. The Cartersville Hurricanes took a 14-10 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Demons scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and they also held the Cartersville Hurricanes to just three points. The Warner Robins Demons beat the “CANES” in their second round matchup, 24-17. The Demons are currently the 69th best high school team in the country, as the ranking has been updated via Max Prep Sports. They are set to play the Jones County Greyhounds on the road in Gray, on Friday, November 26. The Hounds are coming off of a 66-42 win in the second round. Kickoff for this GHSA AAAAA State Quarterfinal will be at 7:30.
