Demons on fire amidst season’s backend

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — This week was spring break for the student athletes, at Warner Robins High School. Though the student athletes are taking a break from the classroom, the energy was not reciprocated on the baseball diamond. On the evening of Tuesday March 29, the Demons from “War-Town” hosted one of their region rivals. Traveling from Waycross were the Gators from Ware County. The Gators began the game with hot bats, early on. Momentum shifted for Ware County, therefore the Demons started to pick up their game pace. Ware County came into the region contest with a 10-5 record, but the team from “War-Town” brought several early runs in. These runs helped Warner Robins control the overall flow of the game and the Demons never looked back. The Ware County Gators had major pitching errors, which further caused them the game. After having a great defensive day out infield, the Demons beat the Ware County (Waycross) Gators 7-2, in “War-Town”.

Following a home game in Warner Robins, the Demons traveled to Waycross on April first for a double header against the Ware County Gators. The region 1-5A baseball rankings are close and will be so, until the completion of the regular season. The Houston County Bears gave the Warner Robins Demons one of their two losses, in 2022. The Demons have also lost to Perry in 2022, as well. On Tuesday April 5, at 6pm, the Warner Robins Demons will travel to Douglas, Georgia to face Coffee County, in a region 1-5A matchup. “War-Town” is undefeated in their region, which is good enough for the first seed in region 1-5A. For some overall team statistics: The Demons have scored 72 runs in 2022, but have allowed 32 from their opponents.

The Warner Robins Demons are 7-2 overall and after their recent win remains in a good position to go far in the regional playoffs. As “War-Town” continues their region 1-5A stretch, cross-town rival Veterans may be in their way of a region title. The Demons are 4-1, at home, but on the road the Demons are 3-1. Region 1-5A is a very competitive region and has a way of developing Cinderella stories in the magical, “War-Town”.
