Demonettes roll against rival Northside
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Demonettes are playing like they are on a mission this season. Having only lost one game this season, they have been shredding up the competition, and they are looking to get back to the playoffs and bring home the 5A state title.
They had some trouble getting their shots to fall early, however, which is uncharacteristic of this team. Like many good teams, they have a tendency to play up to the competition, and the Lady Eagles have struggled this season, losing 14 out of the 16 games they have played.
The first half was a bit sloppy on both sides of the ball, and the Demonettes were up 18-8 after two quarters of basketball. They have been off for eight days, so that could explain some of the rust they displayed in the first half.
Jada Morgan got things going in the second half, scoring 11 points in the third quarter. Tasia Agee, the senior point guard for Warner Robins, finished with 12 points on the evening.
Northside battled back in the fourth quarter as Taylor Johnson scored four points, but the Demonettes were too strong. Tori Davis, who finished with 14 points, exploded in the fourth quarter, and she drained three three-point shots as she put up 12 points, leading the Demnonettes to a 31-point victory, 51-20.
Warner Robins’ defense picked up the slack, and they had 20 steals in the game, which led to points on the fast break. Agee took it the other way several times, scoring on the fast break after a steal.
Warner Robins only managed to shoot 22% from the field, which is far below their normal shooting percentage. Give some credit to Northside’s defense, but they just had an off day.
Warner Robins will face Union Grove in a region matchup on Tuesday, and then they will travel to McDonough on Friday to play another region game against Eagle’s Landing. Northside will travel to Leesburg and play Lee County, who is 7-9 on the season, Friday.
