WARNER ROBINS, Ga. – The Warner Robins Demonette Softball ball team took on the Northeast Lady Raiders on Monday night and came out with a 10-0 win.

It was Jane “Ruthie” Gore night where the Demonettes honored a former player who was killed in an auto accident after playing for the Demonettes while she was in high school.

Gore was a senior at Warner Robins when head coach Rebecca White was a freshman. An inspiration to many, Gore inspired White to become a coach.

White brought a lot of seniors into the game and the team came out of the gate ready to play.

The pitching of Leanne Butts supported by some excellent fielding by the rest of the team shut out the Raiders and never allowed more than five batters in any inning.

In the bottom of the first inning the Demonettes took control of the game.

Kennedy Thomas led off with a shot to right field resulting in a triple. Jiyah Holt followed that with a single to right driving Thomas. Karma Cochran came in as a designated runner for Holt and stole second on the next pitch.

Hillary Haynes then hit a double to center field, scoring Cochran. Haynes stole third base and then scored on a passed ball.

Verkesia Fuller walked, stole second and scored on a single to right field by Amiyah Cray. Cray stole second and scored on a double by Taylor Alderman to left field.

Alderman advanced to third base on a single by Stubbs.

Kennedy Jacobs then hit the ball hard into the dirt in front of the plate and ended up on third on a throwing error to first where the ball ended up in right field, scoring two more runs.

The inning ended with a ground out to second and hit back to the pitcher for the final out with force out at first base. The Demonettes led 8-0 after the first inning.

After the first the game settled down into a more defensive affair, with neither team able to get any offense going until the bottom of the 4th; the Demonettes were able to put two more runs on the board through a combination of Fuller being hit by a pitch, stealing second, a walk by Cray, a ground ball to right field by Butts, scoring two runs and the inning ending with the score 10-0.

The top of the fifth only took three batters for Butts and the Demonettes to put away the Lady Raiders.

Two strikeouts and a line drive to Thomas at shortstop and the game was over.

White was proud of her team and the way they played. They were able to get a lead early and never let the Raiders into the game. Controlling the play with some good pitching by Butts and excellent fielding by the rest of the team prevented the Lady Raiders from putting up an offense.
