Three suspects, one of whom shot and killed a woman two weeks ago, are still at-large, and Houston County law enforcement personnel and Macon Regional Crimestoppers are determined to change that.

The offense happened at around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, when the suspects entered J&J Dollar Store (known to some as Knodishall Gift Shop) located at 102 Knodishall Drive brandishing firearms. The individuals proceeded to rob the store at gunpoint, and one of them subsequently shot and killed an employee by the name of Sabrina Renee Dollar who was working there at the time.

Follow up continues as Houston County Sheriff’s Office investigators work through leads in hopes to soon uncover the identification of the perpetrators. They have been requesting the public’s help and have provided video footage from the store and made it available for viewing on the agency’s official Facebook page as well as the Macon Regional Crimestoppers media page.

On Friday, January 28, Macon Regional Crimestoppers announced that up to $10,000 is now being offered as a reward for information regarding the still-open case.

One arrest, unrelated to the armed suspects, has been made in the case. A woman identified as Lakisha Deshawn McGhee, who was in the store at the time of the robbery, was taken into custody for stealing from the store in the aftermath. Reportedly, McGhee was a victim inside the store at the time of the incident but was unharmed by the suspects. According to a media update from Chief Investigator, Captain Jon Holland, she was also the person who called 911 and reported the armed robbery and shooting. However, before police arrived, McGhee illegally removed lottery tickets from the office where the shooting victim was found and also briefly disabled the building’s security system.

McGhee was arrested on Monday, January 24 and charged with theft by taking and tampering with evidence. As of Friday, January 28, she was still being held, without bond, at the Houston County Detention Center.

Sgt. Anna Lange is the lead investigator in this ongoing case and can be reached at 478-542-2085 or 478-542-2080. Anyone with information concerning the incident can call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 478-742-2330. Calls are taken 24 hours a day.
