PERRY, Ga. — The Perry Police Department and other city agencies responded to a two-car collision occurring at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, at the intersection of Sam Nunn Boulevard and WF Ragin Drive. First responders were on scene within a minute following their dispatch at 4:57 p.m.

As stated in the report, both drivers had complaints of injury following the collision, with Willie Cook Jr., of Warner Robins, being transported to the emergency room via Houston County EMS and arriving at the hospital at 5:19 p.m. The person in the other involved vehicle — Brian Tapley, of Perry — was taken for treatment via a privately owned vehicle.

According to the crash report provided by PPD, Cook was traveling westbound and lost control of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, striking the right side-center of a 2017 Nissan Frontier traveling southbound, operated by Tapley.

“[Cook] stated he did not know what happened,” the report read. “[Cook] stated he was driving to Purdue to pick up his niece and doesn’t remember having an accident.

“[Tapley] stated he was sitting at the stop sign waiting to cross the roadway. [Tapley] stated he never saw [Cook’s vehicle] until he couldn’t go anywhere. [Tapley] stated [Cook] struck him and stopped further down in the median.”

Road Runner Towing cleared the vehicles from the scene, as both were disabled from the crash.
