PERRY, Ga. — Houston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 report of a drowned child on Monday. The investigation is ongoing.

Sergeant Kevin Harper, of the department’s juvenile division, said that preliminary information indicates the drowning to be accidental. The sergeant added that the sequence of events is currently unclear.

A 911 call reported the incident at 8:55 a.m., occurring at 123 Wellington Drive, in Perry. The victim of this drowning was a 2-year-old child. According to Harper, the incident happened at a family members home.

As of right now, no one is expected to face any charges as a result of the child’s death. The Sheriff’s Department is currently waiting for autopsy results from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to conclude their investigation.

“[We’re] extremely sorry for the family’s loss. A tragic accident is what it appears to be,” Harper said.
