Changed call ends in drug arrest
What began this past weekend as an emergency call dispatching a Houston County Sheriff’s Officer (HCSO) to assist EMS with an unresponsive person ended with a man being handcuffed and arrested for what appears to be a totally different reason.
It was shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 28, that an HCSO deputy received the call to help with a crisis going on at a convenience store located at 4070 Georgia 11 in Byron that involved a person who was unresponsive to the efforts of EMS. Prior to the officer’s arrival at the location, however, EMS requested to disregard the Fire Department, but they indicated that the assistance of HCSO was still needed. EMS advised that the subject of the call had a green leafy substance in his possession that appeared to be marijuana.
When the officer, whom the official report identified as Deputy Stuart, got to the scene, EMS personnel directed him to the subject in question who was standing in the parking lot of the gas station. Upon making contact, Stuart detected a strong odor coming from the subject that he determined to be raw marijuana. The man, later identified as 31-year-old Bobby Fout of 773 Causey Road, Knoxville, Georgia, was placed in handcuffs and detained while Stuart searched his person.
Discovered scattered in Fout’s front left pocket was the green leafy substance that had been reported by EMS. It was removed by authorities and stored in an evidence bag; suspected to be marijuana. Further searching uncovered a clear bag that contained a crystal substance that appeared to be Methamphetamine as well as a clear smoking device in a black sock.
Once all items in question were removed from his person, Fout was transported to Houston County Detention Center and later charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce, possession of a Schedule II (Meth), and possession of drug related objects.
