CGTC athletes named to national academic teams
MACON, Ga. — The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently announced its 2021-22 All-Academic Team honorees and the 2021-22 Academic Teams of the Year.
To receive all-academic team recognition, student-athletes must achieve an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2021-22 academic year. The criteria for the three All-Academic teams as follows — National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA; NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA; and NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA.
2,852 student-athletes earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors after achieving a 4.0 GPA. 3,322 student-athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team while 4,221 student-athletes received third team recognition.
Five Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) student-athletes received all-academic team honors for the 2021-22 academic year.
Making the NJCAA All-Academic First Team was Shalom Osoba. Osoba is a sophomore on the Titans Men’s Basketball team.
Selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team was Mark Vance Jr. Vance is also a sophomore on the Titans Men’s Basketball team. He is a second of three underclassmen selected to an All-Academia team.
Making the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team was freshman athlete Haneefat Adanijo. She is a member of the Titans Women’s Basketball team.
Pressley Pittman was also selected to the NJCAA All-Academic third team as a freshman member of the Titans Women’s Cross Country team.
Lastly, was Jomar Richards. Richards is a sophomore member of the Titans Men’s Basketball team.

For the second-consecutive year, the Central Georgia Technical College men’s basketball program has been recognized as an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. The Titans earned a 3.44 GPA for the 2021-22 academic year, the fourth-highest GPA in the NJCAA for men’s basketball.
“It is a great honor for our student-athletes to be recognized for their academic achievements,” said Cambri Steadman, Central Georgia Technical College’s director of athletics. “We are proud of the hard work they put forth every day in the classroom and in their sport.
