Central Georgia welcomes the state’s first Buc-ee’s establishment
Buc-ee’s, at long last, is finally here in the Warner Robins area! On Wednesday, November 18, the franchise had its newest grand opening celebration, as well as a ribbon cutting, right on the south side of the building. This is not only the first Buc-ee’s in Warner Robins, but also in the state of Georgia as a whole.
At the event were many familiar faces to our community, such as President and CEO of Robins Regional Chamber April Bragg, Chairman of the Board Jay Flesher and Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms. Perhaps a not-so-familiar face to those in attendance, but a friend nonetheless, was the CEO and founder of Buc-ee’s, Arch “Beaver” Aplin III.
According to Bragg, Warner Robins has finally completed something “that has been a dream and a vision for a number of years.” She added that, “We are excited today to celebrate that dream coming to fruition.”
Toms was excited as well, stating, “This is one of the most exciting days that I’ve seen since I’ve been mayor for the last seven years here in Warner Robins. This absolutely incredible.” Toms, as well as the other speakers at the grand opening event, was very thrilled for all the new business that this will bring to the Warner Robins area, not only from interstate travelers, but also from other businesses.
Buc-ee’s is a chain of convenient stores and gas stations with several locations already situated in Texas and Alabama. The one here in middle Georgia was one of several that are under development to open in other states, according to online news sources.
Alpin described middle Georgia as, “a great place to do business.” He further stated, “I’ll tell everybody that it’s a great place to do business.” Alpin admitted that, “The work just starts today… our job is to exceed y’all’s expectations everyday from now on, and I have zero doubt in my mind that this management team that will operate this store will endeavor to do that.”
As far as future business, Mr. Aplin and his team hopped on a plane the very next day to begin breaking ground for a brand new building in South Carolina. For now, it appears that Warner Robins will have the only Buc-ee’s in the state of Georgia for a while.
Bragg urged citizens to take any opportunity to “load up.”
Buc-ee’s offers a wide range of items including beaver nuggets, brisket and even fudge. They also have numerous gas pumps to include diesel. The general shop offers popular options for souvenir shoppers such as, T-shirts, hats, plushies and much more.
Buc-ee’s is located right off the I-75 Russell Parkway Exit. The development of the community doesn’t end here, though. According to Mayor Toms, Warner Robins is also soon to break ground on a new visitors information center, as well a Vietnam War Memorial. Both will be erected directly across the street from our newly opened Buc-ee’s.
