Bright Futures ahead: On the recruiting trail with the Houston County Bears
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — Antwaan Hill Jr. is not the only Bear who has risen to national stardom. In the spring of 2022, various Power-5 schools offered scholarships for Houston County athletes to play collegiately. Arthur Lee Brown, Kahlil House, Antwaan Hill Jr. and Nick Johnson Jr. are a few of the hottest names on State Route 96.
Houston County is under the helm of a new head coach, Jeremy Edwards. Coach Edwards recently mentioned how he coaches his athletes to become 1% better each and every day.
The Houston County Bears also lost key members on both sides of the ball, including Caleb Coley, Simeon Askew, Bryce Parrish and a stellar offensive lineman who will attend Georgia Southern in the fall.
A major key to Houston County’s success in 2021 was Khalil House. The 6’4”, 285-pound offensive lineman was a force for opposing defensive fronts in class 6A. House, who maintains a 3.7 GPA, has recently gained offers from Middle Tennessee State, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech. His latest offer was from Florida Atlantic on May 19.
Nick Jordan Jr. is the 6’, 185-pound strong safety and outside linebacker for the Houston County Bears. Running a 4.56-second 40-yard dash, the rising senior recently received an offer from Reinhardt University on May 17.
Also on the defensive side of the ball, Arthur Lee Brown has picked up a couple of offers as well. The 6’, 175-pound defensive back and wide receiver maintains a 3.4 GPA. The rising senior received an offer from Shorter University on May 24.
On June 1, Arthur Lee Brown received the news on his latest offer from Austin Peay State University. The D-1 program began talks with the two-sport athlete shortly after the duration of spring practices. Arthur Lee Brown will be one of the vocal anchors of the Bear defense this fall.
