Bright futures ahead: On the recruiting trail with the Eagles from Northside
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Coach Chad Alligood has continued with a consistent tradition of culture and discipline on Green Street in “War-Town.” Coach Alligood also informed me that several of Northside’s gridiron athletes have “received numerous offers.” There was no shock to local fanatics, as the Northside athletes have gained notoriety on the gridiron.
Rising senior Quinton Lewis has gained national attention after receiving several offers this spring from Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Tulane, Western Kentucky, UAB, Army at West Point, Air Force, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, Eastern Carolina, Buffalo and UNC Charlotte, since January 19 of this year. The 6’3” offensive lineman also has a very high GPA, which has many Ivy League schools interested. Also on the radar is rising sophomore Ricardo Jones. Jones is a four-star safety that turned heads during his freshman season, catching eight interceptions. The star defensive back is currently entertaining a long list of offers, including: Kentucky, West Virginia, Stanford, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Georgia, Western Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Auburn, Tennessee, Nebraska, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Tech and Middle Tennessee. There is plenty of talent of both sides of the ball at Northside.
Kyle Mixon is another member of Coach Alligood’s Eagles who has began to soar this off-season. Mixon has already begun to rack up the collegiate offers from Western Kentucky, Maryland, Eastern Carolina, United States Air Force Academy, Austin Peay State, Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Recently, a pair of gridiron athletes was announced to the region 1-6A all-region soccer team. Mikell Roberts and Isaiah Harvey are both two-sport athletes who have earned collegiate offers on the gridiron, too. Harvey has received offers from Shorter, Central Arkansas and Westfield State. Roberts, the second-team all-defensive member, recently announced an offer as well. Westfield State awarded Roberts with his first collegiate scholarship offer.Veteran returner Camden Kopsick rounds out Northside’s list of athletes that have received a collegiate offer this spring. After the duration of spring practices, Kopsick accepted his official scholarship offer from Grinnell College. Northside will compete in their summer practices beginning in early June.Other than offers, leaders will look to gain a state title this fall.
