Blocking at the Net: Spotlighting three seniors – Taylor Lamontagne

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

There are many leaders this year in Houston County and three elite leaders from Warner Robins, Northside, and Veterans High Schools have proven to fill the shoes on and off the court.  All three show tenacity, grit, and most important, sportsmanship.

All of these student athletes have larger aspirations after high school and of course, all seniors deserve congratulations. Best of luck to all seniors, whether or not GHSA playoffs are in sight this school year.  All of the senior experiences will provide the guidance needed to be successful in life.

Veterans High School: Taylor Lamontagne

Taylor Lamontagne was a great player to watch at many matches throughout this season, with her leadership to teammates and loyalty to both coaches and school.  Both of these aspects are strengths that will continue to allow her to be successful in the future.

Her ability to position sets to her hitters (with a tremendous vertical) allowed Veterans to be successful throughout the year. Veterans was able to capture the County Championship for 2023, due largely to her and senior leadership.

The Warhawks also captured the Region 1-6A title, meaning they will host in the first round of the playoffs.

Lamontagne was unable to pinpoint a specific moment that she enjoyed for volleyball, except that she enjoyed both playing for the school and club teams. After high school, she plans to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice & Forensics and is hoping to play competitive volleyball for her college team.

She has narrowed down her college choices to either Valdosta State, Chowan, or West Alabama University. If she has the opportunity to play volleyball for any of these schools she will certainly be of value to the team.

She has learned from all her coaches how to become a team player and she credits Coach Jill Nash as not only being her coach but mentor, allowing her to grow not only as a competitor, but as a person. She would like to give credit to her parents for supporting her and providing guidance in not just volleyball, but in all facets of life.
