Bears sweep Eagles in doubleheader, clinch No. 2 seed in region
The Houston County Lady Bears handled business against their county and region rivals, the Northside Lady Eagles, with a shutout sweep in Thursday’s doubleheader.
Houston County went on to beat the Eagles 7-0 in game one and doubled up in game two with a 15-0 win that ended in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.
The Bears clinched the No.2 seed in Region 1-6A with the sweep over Northside and will have home field advantage in the first round of the 6A Softball State Playoffs.
Houston County will play the No. 3 seed in Region 3-6A, Lakeside (10-11).
Northside (8-11) finished as the No. 3 seed in Region 1-6A and will have to go on the road for their first round playoff matchup.
The Eagles will face the No. 2 seed in Region 3, Evans (12-7) and Evans has only lost two home games all season.
The first round of the 6A State Softball Playoffs will be played from October 12 to October 14.
