BBC annual golf tournament proceeds will go to very special families
The Bonaire Boys Club will be holding their annual charity golf tournament at Waterford Golf Club (620 GA-96, Bonaire, Ga.) on Sat., Sep. 24. As always all proceeds and monetary donations will go towards a charity or family selected by the Bonaire Boys Club, a non-profit organization. The golf tournament is he club’s most succssful fundraiser according to event coordinator Dusty Martin, “It raises the most money and is easily our biggest event,” she says. In this particular case the families selected have very special recipients that are well deserving of Houston County’s attention.
Dylan Carter and Karma Lilly Little are two little girls with a whole lot of heart. “Each year we choose a person or family that could use our help,” says Martins. “We try to help everyone we come across that needs help,” she says. What they have gone through and will continue to fight is more of a burden than any child should have to. Karma, currently six years old, was diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma at the age of three. Dylan and her family were told that she was suffering from Bilateral Retinoblastoma on Feb. 6, 2016. Both girls are fighters and by the grace of God will grow up to be productive and inspirational members of society. Retinoblastoma is a cancer that starts in the back of the eye, the retina, and is most commonly found in children’s eyes. Neuroblastoma affects the adrenal glands, neck, chest and spinal cord with malignant cancer cells. Due to the disease Dylan has had her right eye removed and has to receive regular laser treatments and chemotherapy. Karma’s body wouldn’t respond to what might be considered “normal” treatments so she and her family have to travel to New York City’s Sloan-Kettering Research Hospital for experimental treatments. And you thought football players were tough.
The Bonaire Boys Club and participating sponsors Martins Bar-B-Q and McCullough Funeral Home are coming together to raise money for these girls and their families. The golf tournament provides a number of options for individual donors and golf enthusiast alike. To play in the tournament only cost golfers $300 per team ($75 per player) and top sponsor a hole is just $75. Sponsors can also buy silver ($150), gold ($300) and platinum ($500) packages. More details on these packages, where to submit cash donations, door prizes and raffles can be found on the Bonaire Boys Club Facebook page and on their website bonaireboysclub.com.
