Arrest made in WR homicide
Warner Robins Police Department Detectives have charged two people with the murder of Navaneetbhai Patel. 19-year-old Roy Ford Jr. and 36-year-old Alvin Dunn were charged with murder and armed robbery.
Officers with the Warner Robins Police Department were dispatched to the Express Shop located at 700 Russell Parkway in reference to an armed robbery, Sunday around 5:30p.m.
When officers arrived, they first determined that a store clerk was shot during the robbery, but later found the victim was a spouse of an employee. The victim was identified as 49 year-old, Navaneetbhai Patel. Patel was transported to the Houston Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at the GBI (Georgia Bureau Investigation) Crime Lab.
There were customers inside the business, as well as an employee, when the incident occurred. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The department cannot release any video footage because the video surveillance system was inoperable at the time of the robbery.
Both Ford and Dunn are being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for charges related to the armed robbery at the U.S. Post Office in Macon.
The arrest of these individuals are the result of a collaborative working relationship with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, and U.S. Postal Inspectors. The Warner Robins Police Department stated in a press release is proud of all law enforcement personnel involved in these investigations and values the continued relationships and resources of all of our partner law enforcement agencies in Middle Georgia.
Detectives ask that anyone with information to contact Detective Justin Clark or Detective Chad Pierce at (478) 302-5380 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
