Armed robbery and assault outside of a Houston County home

The Houston County Sheriff’s

Office responded to an armed robbery and assault in the 200 Block of Berger

Mont Ct. at approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The victim, Ghanshyam Patel, 42,

was interviewed by responding deputies at his residence.

 

Patel reported to deputies

that the incident happened after he arrived home from closing his business,

Freedom Fuels on Watson Boulevard. According to Patel’s statement, the

suspect hid in the bushes while waiting for Patel to exit his vehicle then ran at him with a handgun demanding money. 

 

Patel stated he

initially resisted the suspect’s demands and the suspect struck the victim in

the head with the handgun.  After a

brief struggle, the assailant fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash

that was taken from the victim.  

 

The suspect is described as

being 17 to 21 years of age, approximately 5’10” to 6’0” tall and weighs

approximately 170lbs to 180lbs.  He

was wearing a black beanie cap, black jacket, and black pants.  The weapon was described as a small black

handgun.

 

The victim received

superficial injuries to his head during the assault.  He was treated on scene by responding emergency medical

personnel.
