Accident with injuries at Willie Lee Pkwy

A two-vehicle accident occurred Monday at 2:23 p.m., at the intersection of Watson Boulevard and Willie Lee Parkway in Warner Robins, in which a 2009 Mercury Mariner overturned. According to Police Chief John Wagner of WRPD, the Mercury, traveling east on Watson Boulevard, made a left turn onto Willie Lee Parkway, in front of a 2010 Scion XD. Wagner explained that both vehicles had a solid green right, as far as could be determined by officers.

The Scion made contact with the right rear wheel and fender area of the Mercury, Wagner expanded, after which, the Mercury rolled over and rested on the driver’s side.

Wagner informed that the driver of the Scion was transported to the Houston Medical Center with complaints of injuries, while the driver of the Mercury was uninjured. Wagner said that the driver of the Mercury was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left.

Wagner told the Houston Home Journal that because Watson Boulevard is a state route, the Georgia Department of Transportation has fixed the light at this intersection, meaning it will now be a controlled left turn. Wagner expressed that he believed the change would be implemented within the week.
