A Day in the Sun golf event for Volunteer Medical Clinic

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

It was a nice Day in the Sun to hold a golfing event called “A Day in the Sun.” This is the annual fundraiser for the Houston County Volunteer Health Clinic at Houston Lake Country Club and brought in approximately $47,000.

The money was raised through corporate sponsorships, donations, and entry fees by golf participants. The Volunteer Clinic is its own corporate entity, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Houston Healthcare is a partner of the Volunteer Clinic because of the care provided to the working uninsured residents of Houston County. The employees often volunteer at the Clinic and several also serve on the Board of Trustees. The Clinic is appreciative to Houston Healthcare for its long-standing support of our organization.

“We had so many participants tell us what a wonderful time they had being involved in this year’s fundraiser,” said executive director Michelle Cronin. “A special thank you to Kim Greer at Houston Healthcare for once again coordinating this huge endeavor. We also had great participation on the day of the event from several of our other Board members such as Dr. Virgil McEver III (Medical Director), Miriam McEver, Cheryl Taylor, Jim Keels, Beth Jones (Board Chairman), David Campbell, Ann Kane (Vice Chairman), and Betty Mifflin (help with obtaining door prizes).

“We look forward to planning for next year and would be grateful to any in the community member that would like to help us by contacting us thru our webpage, Facebook page, email or phone.”
