Man dead and firefighter injured in house fire Thursday night 

Houston County Fire Department responded to a house fire resulting in the death of the occupant. A firefighter was also injured in the blaze.

WARNER ROBINS — A man is dead after a residential structure fire occurred Thursday night at 100 block of Horseshoe Drive in Warner Robins. According to a media release, Houston County 911 received the call about the fire at approximately 10:41 p.m, with reports of heavy smoke and flames coming from the residence, the occupant still inside.  

The Houston County Fire Department responded with the first crew arriving at the scene at 10:46 p.m. and confirmed the conditions of the home and that the resident was still not found. 

“Despite the significant fire conditions, firefighters entered the home, located an adult male and removed him from the house,” the release said.

The male was then transported to Emory Healthcare Warner Robins and died of his injuries. 

According to the Houston County Fire Department, the cause of the fire is still under investigation and the name of the deceased was being withheld. 

The release said one firefighter was injured during the blaze, sustaining only minor burns. He has since being treated at Emory Healthcare Warner Robins and expected to be released. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased,” the release said.
