Houston County Fire Department responds to Tuesday house fire, no injuries
Houston County Fire Department responded to a fire on the 400 block of Buxton Court on Tuesday, Oct. 29. There were no injuries.

KATHLEEN – Houston County Fire Department responded to a fire on the 400 block of Buxton Court on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Houston County Fire Chief Christopher Stoner said they received the call at 10:15 a.m. and the second story of the house was filled with smoke. There was a fire in the bedroom on the second floor.
The first fire unit arrived five minutes after the owner dialed 911. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained in the bedroom. There is smoke damage throughout the second floor, but the fire damage was limited to the bedroom, according to Stoner.
Crews were on scene for about an hour and a half extinguishing the flames. The scene was cleared at 11:30 a.m.
No one was home when the fire started, but the homeowner was able to get pets out safely. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Stoner said the fire crews did a phenomenal job. He said they responded and made access to the fire very quickly and was able to get it contained without causing further damage to the home.
He also shared the homeowner will be able to renovate and restore the damaged area quickly.
“We’re thankful for that. The homeowner noticed the fire and called it in when he did. [We’re] thankful for my guys and their response,” he said.
