Mentors Needed
Who was it? If you are where you want to be, who was the person, or people, that moved you from where you were from to where you want be? There are so many ways to get motivation in life it can be hard to remember where the spark was that sent you on the journey. Everyone has had guidance to get somewhere, whether it was a physical, emotional, spiritual, or intellectual space. The necessity of having a mentor for your life journey lends itself to show us how necessary it is to be a mentor.
Mentors inspire us, first of all, by being an example. The work that they have done to get to a position that others would aspire to achieve is commendable but also has the capacity to be reproduced in others. The time that it takes to be an inspiration can only be accomplished by making yourself available.
Have you ever heard someone tell a story so compelling that it makes you want to learn more about the subject? Mentors teach through sharing their time, techniques and a treasure-trove of experiences. Oftentimes we get the opportunity to participate as the result of the things that a mentor has said, this is called training. Training let’s us become more familiar with our interest.
The possibility of making a mistake always looms on the horizon of trying to do something you have not done before. Mentors help us overcome our failures by correcting what was wrong with the way we tried to do the task or pointing out why it has to be done in a particular way.
So many people quit trying or doing because they lose the hope they began with and can’t seem to be able to see the end of what they are working for. The cheer of the crowd or the applause in the room comes as a result of completing what you set out to do. Mentors encourage us along the way as so that we do not grow weary and get overwhelmed.
The influence that mentors have on our life cannot be measured but it can be appreciated by sharing what made the things in your life as they are. Whether it was a success or a failure you can be an inspiration to a person. If you have been inspired by someone else in your life, would you consider making yourself available to be a mentor.
There are many agencies, like Big Brother/Big Sister, etc. that are working to provide space for you to do it. If none of those work for you then start one, so that there is a launchpad for success to the people around you.
