Plane crashes into Warner Robins backyard
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration responded to a plane crash that shook up a local backyard this weekend.
According to the FAA, just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, a RANS S-14 single engine aircraft crashed into a backyard after attempting to take off.
The NTSB said the experimental craft’s engine lost power during takeoff while the pilot departed a grass airstrip and the plane crashed into nearby trees.
The pilot was the sole occupant and was severely injured as a result of the crash.
Houston County Fire Department, Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Houston Healthcare EMS and the Air Evac Lifeteam responded to the incident; the pilot needed removal from the plane with the Jaws of Life and other hand tools, according to Fire Chief Christopher Stoner.
“We’re praying for the pilot, that they have a speedy recovery,” Stoner said.
The NTSB is currently investigating the crash.
