Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

This week, Warner Robins High honored their senior players at the final match on Tuesday as they faced off against the Perry Panthers. Perry was not the first team the Demonettes had to face as they started their evening with a match against West Laurens, in which they swept the best-of-three set match. The Demonettes captured the victory 25-18 and 25-16, and they played very well in front of an excited home crowd. The Demonettes had a break as Perry beat West Laurens winning 2 out of 3 sets.

The second match with Perry went the distance and was well contested between both schools. Warner Robins took advantage of the first set beating Perry in a close battle 25-21. The second set was just as close but Perry prevailed 25-23 and tied the match forcing a third and final set. The final set was close, but Warner Robins failed to capture the lead and lost the final set 15-11. Both of the student sections were loud and encouraged all players throughout the match. These cheers allowed both schools to be competitive throughout the match. Coach Rogers (Marlene) stated the crowd was amazing, the energy in the gym was off the charts and the girls were playing well and absolutely enjoyed all the support.

Although the Demonettes did not win the match, the energy and excitement the players had that night was great. The seniors all contributed in the stat column with the following senior leaders: Cali Rylander (#6) had seven kills and two blocks, Kynnadi Howard (#2) had six kills, two blocks, and two kills, Kalia Powell (#3) had three digs and one kill, Dee Meh (#5) had three digs and two assists, Laila Talton (#14) added a kill and assist, and Jalyssia Payne (#15) had a kill. All of the seniors played well and best of luck to all in future endeavors.

This was not the only match that Warner Robins played on Wednesday night. They also faced off against 6A opponent Lee County. This match was a best-of-five set match that went the distance. Warner Robins started off slow losing the first set 25-17 but bounced back nicely winning the next two sets 25-19 and 25-22. They only needed to win one more set but lost the fourth set 25-15. The match was tied going into the final set. The final and deciding set was close until the end, and the Demonettes needed three extra points to seal the deal, winning the set 18-16.

Coach Rogers stated: “They played with composure and kept fighting back when they were down, and once we took the lead we were able to keep it.”

The stat leaders on the night were Zaiah Dantes with seven kills, Kynnadi Howard with five kills, Cali Rylander with six aces and Clair Whitson with 18 assists. On the defensive side of the net, Katelyn Harris had double-digits in digs (14), and Mymy Williams had three blocks.
