HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — Many of the south and nation’s top collegiate football recruiters are eyeing Kathleen’s Damare Franklin. Recently, the versatility of Franklin’s athleticism has landed him a scholarship offer from Atlanta’s Georgia Tech. The rising senior announced the scholarship offer on June 25.

“All glory to GOD, I am blessed to receive an division-one ACC offer to the Georgia Institute of Technology,” added Franklin. “It feels great to receive this offer and I have been smiling since I’ve picked it up. Georgia Tech is a very prestigious schools and it is a power-5.”

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member awarded the offer just ahead of the rush. By now, many of the country’s best programs have begun to notice the value of Damare Franklin and how his impact can help their team early on.

After Franklin’s sensational campaign, he was awarded GHSA region 1-5A Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. This accolade comes after Franklin was among the Georgia leaders in receiving yards.

Following a stellar season last fall, it took no time for collegiate scouts to find Houston County’s “Lost Star.” Franklin received his inaugural collegiate scholarship offer from the University of the Cumberlands late in 2021. Also awarding a scholarship offer to Franklin was Reinhardt University in North Georgia. Historically Black College and University Albany State announced a scholarship offer to the Warhawks star on June 6. After the duration of last season, Albany State is sought as a premier division-II football program.

During his junior campaign, Franklin caught 63 receptions for a 1,001 yards. With less than 16 carries, Damare Franklin rushed for 98 yards, also crossing into the end zone for seven total touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Franklin recorded 11 solo tackles, caught an interception and broke up six potential completions while playing at the corner position.

Damare Franklin’s most recent scholarship offer was his first from a division-one school. In early June, Presbyterian College also offered Franklin the opportunity to continue his athletic and academic career. With one season of his high school career left, the standout athlete has yet to make any college commitments or decisions.

On another note, Franklin has participated in various private and position workouts at several division-one schools this summer. Two weeks ago, the standout athlete was working out on the campus of Central Florida. The following week, Franklin was between the hedges for another workout in Athens.

“I had a great private workout at the University of Georgia,” he said. “I will be back soon for a visit and a camp.”

Damare Franklin and the Hawks will begin their season in “War-Town.”
