WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — An arrest has been made relating to a fatal hit and run that happened on March 27.

Around 5:30 p.m., the Warner Robins Police Department (WRPD) arrested 38-year-old David Alvin Lord of Perry.

Lord has been charged with Felony Hit and Run, and he is currently in the Houston County Detention Facility.

The police department made the arrest through camera footage, community involvement and an investigation by the Warner Robins Traffic Division. Camera footage from nearby businesses showed the car traveling through Watson Boulevard from North Pleasant Hill Road through North Houston Road, and the police department was able to track the vehicle’s path of travel before and after the collision.

Tips from the community assisted the police department as well in identifying the vehicle and suspect. Police Chief John Wagner emphasized that the community tips helped bring closure to the family of the victim.

“It goes to show how the community comes together in cases like this, as well,” Wagner said. “We may be a city of 81,000 people, but they all want to pitch in and help.”

After Lord was taken into custody, the police department located the vehicle. The car was found on Deborah Drive in Centerville and was spray-painted black; it was identified as a 1996 Monte Carlo.

The WRPD possessed the vehicle. Reflecting on the events leading up to Lord’s arrest, Wagner felt the traffic division worked effectively in their investigations.

“We’ve got a great group of men that work in the traffic division and take it very serious,” Wagner said. “They’ve worked many hours since Monday to bring this case to fruition and will present a very good, a very tight case to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.”

The arrest was connected to the tragic event that occurred on Sunday night, where a 53-year-old man was killed.

The victim was traveling northbound on Watson Boulevard. He was later identified as 53-year-old Clinton Taylor of Centerville.

The Monte Carlo traveling westbound struck Taylor and did not stop to help. He was transported to Houston Medical Center and later died.

Warner Robins Police Department is still investigating the incident. Anyone with more information may call Sgt. Tim Pippio at (478) 293-1048 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME (682-7463).
