Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Since mid November talks about Ryan Crawford’s future with “Bear-Down” country, were in the air. On November 11, Jeremy Edwards coached in his second consecutive GHSA State Championship game. After claiming the class 5A State Title, Edwards accepted the position as the new head football coach of Houston County Bears. This officially ends the Ryan Crawford era, but is the start of a new beginning for HOCO. With HOCO and Crawford parting ways, Ryan Crawford finished his coaching stint 20-37. Ryan Crawford was the head football coach for five seasons. Coach Jeremy Edwards was the offensive coordinator for the Warner Robins Demons for the previous two seasons and led the powerful Demon offensive attack to consecutive championship seasons. Prior to coaching at “War-Town”, Edwards was the offensive coordinator of the Cairo High Syurpmakers. Coach Jeremy Edwards’ time at Warner Robins was filled with electricity and high scoring. In 2021, the Warner Robins offense averaged 48 points per game under coach Jeremy Edwards and the Demons finished 14-1. Also as the offensive coordinator, Coach Edwards was 40-4 at Warner Robins. “I am excited to get started here at HOCO. I also excited to bring in a new coaching staff, as I will begin my work at HOCO on January 3rd,” says Coach Jeremy Edwards. Edwards hopes to bring the same winning culture back into “Bear-Down” country. The HOCO Bears finished 4-7 last season, under Ryan Crawford and lost to Evans in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs. Edwards’ absence from the Warner Robins program, now opens a hole for other offensive minded coaches to join Marquis Westbrook’s staff in “War-Town”. The Houston County Board of Education voted on the coaching change at Tuesday’s board meeting. The voting decsion was unanimously approved. The Jeremy Edwards era in “Bear-Down” country will begin on the first Monday in January.
