Lady Bears, Panthers and Warhawks advance to Sweet 16
The Houston County Lady Bears went on to advance to the Sweet 16 of the GHSA 6A State Softball Playoffs in a nail biting three-game series with Lakeside. The first two games of the series were split on Tuesday; Houston County dropped game one 8-3 then rallied back in game two with a 10-2 win powered by an all-around team performance.
Houston County took the series in game three where the Lady Bears prevailed 5-4 as sophomore catcher Abbie Havard sealed the deal with a series clinching hit in the 10th inning.
The Lady Bears (14-17) will play Creekview (22-5-1) in the Sweet 16 next week, the exact game dates and times has yet to be determined.
Perry’s Lady Panthers advanced to the next round of the 4A State Softball Playoffs in a three-game series against LaGrange.
Perry took game one 4-1 and LaGrange stole game two 6-5 to force a series-deciding game three. Perry didn’t let game three be as close and went on to rout LaGrange 14-2 to advance to the Sweet 16.
In the next round, Perry will have home field advantage and face Flowery Branch (15-8). The game dates and times are to be determined.
The Veterans Lady Warhawks (19-5) completely blew out Creekside with 17-0 wins in both game one and game two of the best of three series.
The Lady Warhawks advance to the Sweet 16 of the 5A State Softball Playoffs and will host Calhoun (19-13) at home for the series. The game dates and times are to be determined.
The Northside Lady Eagles lost to Grovetown 12-0 and 16-3 in the first round of the 6A State Softball Playoffs and finish the season with an 8-14 overall record.
