Failure to yield causes multi-vehicle accident
A Wednesday night multi-vehicle accident led to the three vehicles involved being towed from the scene. Though visible widespread damage to the vehicles, all parties walked away without requiring medical attention.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. Warner Robins Police Department, Fire Department and emergency personnel responded to an accident reported on Lake Joy Road. According to a report read by Police Chief John Wagner, a black 2012 Ford Mustang and a blue 2012 Chevrolet Equinox were traveling side by side northbound on Lake Joy Road. Wagner read that the Mustang was reportedly in the right hand lane while the Equinox occupied the left. He then detailed a white 2007 BMW X3, stopped at the stop sign of Broderick Circle and Lake Joy, “turned into the path of the Ford Mustang.”
Wagner went on to describe how the vehicles all came into contact. The BMW pulled out in front of the Mustang, causing a collision. “From that collision, the Mustang struck the Equinox [which] then lost control, went off the roadway and struck a fence,” Wagner informed.
The fence separated Lake Joy Road and the rear of the 100 block of Bryce Drive. The Equinox caught fire as a result of its collision with the fence, and the Warner Robins Fire Department immediately addressed the small blaze and extinguished the flames.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported and transport to a medical facility was not needed. Warner Robins emergency personnel had the area cleared in under an hour, reporting the last car leaving the scene of the accident at 10:25 p.m.
Wagner shared that, “The driver of the BMW was cited for failure to yield right of way on a left hand turn” and was given a ticket for being at fault for the multi-vehicle accident.
