Man arrested following pursuit and crash
On Friday at around 1:01 p.m., members of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division attempted to stop a 2001 Chevrolet 3500 for a red light violation. The Chevrolet was driven by Elvis Jewell, 45, of Warner Robins.
Jewell then fled from deputies in the Chevrolet. During the pursuit, Jewell attempted to ram two deputies and committed numerous traffic violations. Jewell fled from Warner Robins into the city of Perry and struck a curb blowing the right-side tires on the Chevrolet. Jewell drove across the median on to the property of Robins Financial Credit Union and jumped from the Chevrolet and fled on foot. Jewell was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Jewell is charged with the following: two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officer, felony fleeing, DUI, possession of schedule I and II (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute. Possession of firearm by convicted felon, possession of firearm and knife during the commission of a crime, two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officer, driving with a suspended license, criminal damage to property and numerous other traffic offenses.
