PFD responds to machinery fire at Graphic Packaging

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Perry Fire Department personnel were called to a fire at Graphic Packaging International’s Perry location Tuesday morning. Perry Fire Chief Lee Parker informed that what appeared to have happened was that a malfunction relative to a machine called a hogger, which grinds up packaging paper to send to a baling machine, caused a fire that Parker noted was contained to that machine.

Parker explained that when fire crews arrived, the fire was mostly extinguished, and crews ensured that the fire had not spread anywhere else and had been contained to that area.
