The Perry High School Panthers wrestling program and its coaching staff won the school’s fifth consecutive county championship on Saturday afternoon, dominating the competition throughout. “I thought our kids wrestled well,” says Perry head coach Randy Moss. “They love competing for the county every year. This weekend highlights the best that Houston County hnas to offer.”

The Panthers defeated Houston County High School 57-17, Northside High School 75-6, warner Robins High School 53-24 and Veterans High School by the score of 71-6. The Perry senior class has never lost a county championship, “Our senior class doesn’t know what it’s like to not win the county championship,” says Moss. “This all started with Moss leading us to our first county championship back in 2013,” says assistant coach Sean Swan. “Over the past years the county duals has been a tradition. None of this would be possible without the dedication and sacrifices that these kids make to better our program.”

The Panthers don’t look to resting on their laurels as the 2-AAAA traditional tournament starts on Friday at 1 p.m. at Perry High School’s Panther Pitt. “We have 30-plus [wrestlers] on the the team and it seems to get better every year,” says Moss.
