Back To School Bash a smash

The Houston County Housing Authority held its seventh annual Back To School Bash Friday at the parking lot of McConnell-Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins. Around 5,000 backpacks were distributed, along with notebooks, paper and other school supplies. Vendors set up in the parking lot included the U.S. Marine Corps, vision and other health-related groups, and service organizations such as The Girl Scouts.

Shandra Butler of Warner Robins, left, said she registered girls for scouts. “It’s our second year here, and we stay busy with the constant traffic.” She added that she had talked with about 300 girls by late Friday afternoon. Working alongside her is Vicki Workman, the membership manager.
