With a huge truck serving as a mobile kitchen on the premises, Memorial Heights Baptist Church was the location for the Little Caesars Love Kitchen on Tuesday afternoon.

“We’re excited to be here with the Little Caesars Love Kitchen in Perry,” said Perry’s franchise owner Leatha Camp. “This is our second year providing a hot meal in the community. We’ve had a turnout of maybe 200 people. We’re excited to be serving the community.”

The Love Kitchen goes all throughout the United States with the goal of meeting the needs of the less fortunate. The food and labor is donated by the local franchises, and Camp said after Tuesday’s stop in Perry the Love Kitchen was headed to Cordele.

“It’s a wonderful privilege to be a part of this,” said Memorial Heights pastor Lewis Kiger, who welcomed people into the church’s dining area, where drinks and dessert were waiting for them to go with the slices. “It’s a great partnership with Little Caesars corporate and our local franchise to provide a hot meal for these folks in need, and at the same time try to show the love of Christ to our community.

“We appreciate the volunteers from our own church. People from Little Caesars are donating their time. They were planning on cooking about 120 pizzas, so that’s a lot they are giving away to our community. We are thankful for their generosity.”
