James “Fritz” Fissel
James “Fritz” Fissel
Fort Valley – James Frederick Fissel, 81, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 3, 2015. A memorial service celebrating Fritz’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until just before the service at the funeral home.
James was born on September 13, 1933 in Hopedale, Illinois to the late Frederick and Grace Crawford Fissel. With pride and honor, he joined the United States Navy with his lifelong best friend, Donny Sacry in 1952. Moving to Tampa, Florida in 1957, he was employed by Continental Can Company, later transferring to Perry, Georgia where he retired as a Production Line Operator. Subsequent to retirement, Fritz owned and operated Mobile Manor Estates on Highway 41. He was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Cubs. He loved politics and was an intelligent, straight forward, hard working, simple man. His witty humor and love for others will surely be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joann Randall; brother-in-law, Lee Ford; stepson, Bruce Watkins; and his beloved dog, Trixie.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Fritz Fissel (Cindy); daughter, Loretta Hart (Keith); stepchildren, Louise Scott (Al), Gene, Danny, Garry and Sharon; sister, Jarie Ford; brother-in-law, Harrison Randall; nieces, Lisa Ford, Carrie Leathers (Doug); special friends, David and Shannon Melvin, Bud and Myra Yansom; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial donations to Heart of Georgia Inpatient Hospice, 1120 Morningside Drive, Perry, Georgia 31069.
