The Houston County office of Sentinel Offender Services recently presented a $2,500 donation to the Central Georgia Technical College Foundation to support criminal justice educational programs at the college.

Shawn Carter, office manager for Sentinel Houston County, delivered the check to the Warner Robins campus along with Sentinel probation fficer Keith Thomas. Thomas is a graduate of the CGTC criminal justice program and recently began his employment with Sentinel.

“We are definitely seeing some of the fruits of our investment,” said Carter.

Since 2012, Sentinel has made an annual donation to the college to support scholarships, educational training programs and extracurricular programs, specifically SkillsUSA, for dual enrollment high school students enrolled in the criminal justice program.

“The college and the CGTC Foundation greatly appreciate the continued support of one of our strong partners,” said Tonya McClure, assistant vice president for institutional advancement at CGTC.

“Not only does Sentinel assist the students of our criminal justice program financially, the organization steadily hires our graduates who provide a great service for our communities.”

SkillsUSA gives students the opportunity to develop and showcase skills learned in the classroom through a competitive experience. Sentinel’s donation helps with expenses associated with this competition, including supplies and travel.
