Scott picked as GASPA President-elect

Mark Scott, Houston County assistant superintendent for human resources, has been elected president-elect of the Georgia Association of School Personnel Administrators (GASPA). Voted into office the end of May during the GASPA annual conference, he began his service July 1. Next year he will serve as the GASPA President.
The mission of GASPA is to lead the way in providing best practice human capital management services for Georgia’s K-12 public schools.
As president–elect, Scott is a member of its executive board, which consists of the president, president-elect, past president, treasurer, secretary, historian and business partner liaison. Elected for a term of one year, he will perform the duties of the president in case that office is temporarily or permanently vacated.
His responsibilities also include membership, member recognition and the implementation of the organizations strategic plan.
GASPA provides current professional development and resources through conferences and strong partnerships with state agencies and educational organizations.
Scott has worked in education for 25 years. Before accepting his current position, he was the principal at Northside High.
He earned a doctorate at Mercer University and a specialist in education from Georgia College and State University. In addition, he earned a master of education and bachelor of education from the University of Georgia.
