Tolleson at national institute on energy

State Sen. Ross Tolleson (R-Perry) recently attended the 2013 Legislative Energy Horizon Institute in Richland, Wash.  Legislators from across the national were invited to further their education of North America’s energy infrastructures and delivery systems.

“Energy is a continuously evolving industry and it is crucial to stay on the forefront of new technologies, innovations and ideals that could be of use in Georgia,” said Sen. Tolleson. “Due to the complexities of energy infrastructures, it is important to learn and exchange ideas on current issues with other legislators and experts in the field. By learning the intricate ins and outs of this industry, we will be able to provide more thorough, educated policies regarding energy in our state.”{{nore}}

Sen. Tolleson, along with 39 legislators, spent the week touring the Pacific Northwest Laboratory where electric power generation, transmission and distribution were discussed.

Legislators also attended presentations regarding the current United States energy situation, advanced energy market trends and potential policy opportunities.

The Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) partnered with the University of Idaho and the Department of Energy to create the initiative. The initiative strives to educate legislators on complex issues associated with electricity, natural gas, and petroleum infrastructure; regulation governing this infrastructure; and interdependencies.
