Dan Sanders of the Perry Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club won the Championship Class at the Hull Spring Open held May 18. He had a 6-1 record with 158 ringers out of 280 shoes. This class went to a playoff, and Sanders had to beat fellow Perry pitcher Larry Myers for the right to face Troy Stapler in the final pairing. Sanders made one more comeback, winning overall by two points on the final two tosses. Ronnie Miller, right, of Cordele son Class C at 5-0 with 61 ringers out of 200 shoes. This too was a photo finish against Andrea DeFoe, who lost to Miller one-on-one early and then had two hot games to place second over Warner Robins’ George Schmidt, who had a back-and-forth battle with Miller, going from 17 down to leading by five to finally falling by four.
