A driver of a car suffered minor injuries after being struck

by a train Tuesday morning at the intersection of Elberta Road and Hwy. 247.

According to a Houston County Sheriff’s Office press

release, around 9:36 a.m. the driver of a 2011 Toyota Corolla did not stop at

the intersection. Instead, she drove around the railroad crossing arms, states

the release.

Norfolk Southern employees were working on the crossing arms

at the time, and they told investigators that the arms were down and the lights

were flashing when the accident happened, according to the release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Guy

Fussell, Jr. at 478-542-2080.
